1980’s NSM GALAXY 200
We have had an interest in 40’s, 50’s jukebox’s & music for a while.
We already had a large collection of 78’s & 45 records. Liking Doo Wop, Rock ‘n Roll, early Elvis Presley, blues, and the big band sounds and deep south black music of the 30’s- 40’s, where it all began.
Cant remember when or where we got the idea to buy a jukebox, but it seemed the right thing to do.
Our first one was an NSM Galaxy 200. A modern jukebox of the 80’s, great sound, nice to look at & 200 x 45 rpm plays, both sides of the records. It had a fully visible mechanism, which people like to see.
This was coin operated and you selected what you wanted played, from the buttons at the top & the record was played vertical, by an arm which moved along the records.u
I wrote out all the name cards, which was a chore. Later on I got a label program, which was still a chore.

1956 AMI H
........the Ami H . I had always wanted an AMI I , but they were too expensive.
This was also a 200 play machine, visible playing mechanism, with an electronic selection.
The records are grabbed through the gap at the back, where the records are on a large rotating wheel. I printed the record labels, but when you change the records around, the label holders are not all the same size, so each label has to be cut to size, before changing.................this was sold to buy a ...........................

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1956 Wurlitzer 2000 Centennial
Now this is one of the most in demand jukebox’s. Electronic, 200 plays, records are selected from a rotating drum at the front, and are played vertical. They are selected by pressing the buttons at the front. It is on freeplay but can be altered to coins.
At the sides there are two moving books, with record names on. You press the button underneath & the pages turn over revealing more songs.
All of the best records on here,
Little Richard, Fats Domino, early Elvis, The Shadows, The Diamonds,
Jerry Lee Lewis, The Shadows, Johnnie Ray, Helen Shapiro, The Ronettes etc etc etc
Jukebox’s are a bit like astro equipment, you always want more, they cost a fortune, & you always get tempted, over & over again, to buy another one...............and so, we bought another one, as well ................

...............the 1948 Wurlitzer 1100, a 78 rpm machine, only played 12 records, one side only.It was a beautiful machine, designed by Paul Fuller, who designed most of the lovely 40’s machines, lots of colours, lights, glass and plastic!
I really liked this, although not a perfect example. We tried to match the records to the era & discovered some fantastic recordings by people we had never heard of before. This is a small machine compared to most of the others, a very popular model.
They all sound a bit scratchy but the 78 rpm records are all original, unlike the 45’s. although most of ours are original, they were often new records, called Golden Oldies etc.
We sold this one to buy a restoration project..................................
